The Opportunity

Smart bed. Dumb software. For now...

Beyond-Sleep has a patented RF pairing protocol and a motorized adjustable base no competitor can replicate. The missing piece is a platform that turns that hardware into a sleep intelligence product.

The Gap
Hardware without a brain
Adjustable bases, wearables, room sensors, and smart home devices don't talk to each other. Sleep data lives in silos. Bed position is manual. The consumer experience is fragmented and passive.
The Platform
Sleep Universe closes the loop
One hub coordinates the base, sensors, wearables, and smart home. Every stream feeds a sleep intelligence layer from passive insight cards to active nightly automation. Phase 3 opens it to third-party hardware via a licensed API.
Platform Architecture

Six layers. Each phase activates more.

Built in stacked layers. Each phase ships a usable product while unlocking the next layer of capability. Phase 0 hardware validation is in progress now.

Build Sequence

Four phases. Each ships a usable product.

Phase 0 is hardware prototype validation happening now and is not billed under this retainer. Phases 1–3 are the software build covered by this proposal. Human hours reflect outcome value; agent hours are real delivery time.

Phase 1Next36 features
Control and First Data Loop
The first product a consumer can actually use. Remote bed control from anywhere, real user accounts, and a nightly sleep summary that closes the first data loop.
1,146h human equiv313h agent all-in3.7× leverage
  • Cloud MQTT relay, iOS and Android apps, hub onboarding
  • User accounts, device management, OTA firmware updates
  • Apple Health: sleep stages, SpO2, heart rate
  • Nightly sleep summary combining bed and wearable data
  • App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) submission and approval
Phase 2Future45 features
Environment and Intelligence
The platform earns the Sleep Universe name. Hub becomes a room intelligence center. Passive sleep insights unlock the premium subscription tier.
1,546h human equiv461h agent all-in3.4× leverage
  • Production hub hardware: FCC/CE-certifiable, box-ready
  • Room sensors: temperature, humidity, light, ambient noise
  • Smart home automation via Matter over Thread (HomeKit, Google Home)
  • Oura Ring, Fitbit, Google Fit integrations; sleep score and insights
Phase 3Future12 features
Automation and Open Platform
The platform stops asking and starts acting. Active automation adjusts the environment every night. Voice control closes the hands-free loop. Path B opens the platform to third-party hardware brands.
828h human equiv320h agent all-in2.6× leverage
  • Active environment automation: no nightly prompting
  • Wake word detection, voice bed control, voice routine triggers
  • External REST API, OEM white-label SDK, partner certification (Path B)
Why Idea Tavern

Agentic infrastructure changes the build math.

Traditional agencies quote human hours and deliver human hours. Idea Tavern quotes human-equivalent value and delivers via AI-assisted parallel development: UI, API, firmware, and cloud running simultaneously.

Agentic parallel development
3.2× average leverage across this scope. Parallel agents across UI, API, firmware, and cloud instead of sequential handoffs. Same budget delivers more, faster.
Production-grade, zero lock-in
All accounts registered to Beyond-Sleep. Complete IP ownership transfers on delivery. No SaaS dependency that can raise rates or shut down.
Founder-level attention
Charles Brubaker (CEO) and Marc Caron (CTO) are directly involved. The people who made the commitment are the people who deliver it.
IoT and embedded expertise
Phase 0 hardware work is running now. The ESB pairing protocol, UART-to-MQTT bridge, and cloud relay are being built by this team. No learning curve on the hardware integration layer.

Investment

Three tiers. Same scope. Different pace.

All three tiers cover Phases 1–3: 93 features, 1,094 agent all-in hours, every platform layer. Every tier includes a 1-month onboarding period before development begins. The monthly rate controls developer allocation, which controls timeline. Pricing reflects human-equivalent outcome value, not clock time.

Agent capacity~99h / mo

Tier 3

Retainer total$180,000

Scope note: All tiers cover Phases 1–3 (1,094 agent all-in hours) plus a 1-month onboarding period before development begins. Phase 0 prototype validation is in progress separately and is not billed under this retainer. Agent capacity figures are derived from Idea Tavern agentic throughput benchmarks. Phase 3 carries lower leverage (2.6x) because wake-word silicon, active automation, and OEM SDK represent genuinely novel work, and less compression is priced in.
Additional Monthly Costs

Infrastructure and dev AI tooling, outside the retainer.

The retainer covers development labor. The following costs are billed directly by vendors to Beyond-Sleep with no markup applied. All figures are estimates and may vary based on usage.

Dev AI Tooling (during build)
Tier 1: 1 developer~$1,000 / mo
Tier 2: 2 developers~$2,000 / mo
Tier 3: 3 developers~$3,000 / mo
Rate per developer$1,000 / mo
Cloud Infrastructure
Cloud hosting + AWS IoT Core$225
Postgres + InfluxDB managed$100
CDN, monitoring, CI/CD$75
Est. during build~$400 / mo
Post-launch base: ~$750/mo. Scales with device fleet. All accounts registered to Beyond-Sleep; zero platform take-rate.
Next Steps

This meeting is the decision gate.

Phase 0 hardware validation is running now. Phase 1 development begins in month 2, following a 1-month onboarding period.

1
Tier selection
Choose the monthly cadence that fits Beyond-Sleep's runway and timeline goals. All three tiers deliver the same full platform scope.
2
General Services Agreement
GSA signed covering scope, payment terms, IP assignment, and exit provisions. The $10,000 kickoff fee is processed at this stage.
3
Onboarding
Month 1. All cloud accounts registered under Beyond-Sleep credentials. Repository access and CI/CD provisioned. Dev tooling configured. Final scope alignment completed.
4
Phase 1 development begins
Month 2. Cloud MQTT relay, mobile app scaffolding, user accounts, and wearable integration begin.
The platform gap won't close itself.
The hardware differentiation Beyond-Sleep has built is real, defensible, and time-sensitive. The build starts when you say go.
